Thank you for your letter regarding the “Review of Cytotoxic Chemotherapy to Cairns Base Hospitalâ€.
We are pleased to hear that there are improvements proposed for the system and we accept the recommendations. In fact, Dr Tony Noun, Group Managing Director of Riverina Cancer Care in Wagga Wagga informed us that they relied on being supplied from Sydney and he doubted that the in-house chemotherapy production facility would be viable.

A MASTER plan for Cairns Base Hospital should be fast-tracked, while interim measures to boost cancer services and clear waiting lists should be brought in immediately to ensure better health for Cairn’s patients, Queensland Coalition Shadow Health Minister John-Paul Langbroek said today.
